Two of those sites sit inside airport facilities and one is on a community college campus, which is worth checking on a map rather than on the morning. No site is listed in Aurora, Thornton or Arvada. Aurora candidates travel to Centennial, Englewood or Wheat Ridge. Thornton and Arvada candidates travel to Broomfield or Wheat Ridge.
Identification
Board rule 3 CCR 710-1.8.A puts it plainly: the candidate must present positive photo identification in order to be admitted to the examination area.
PSI requires identification carrying the candidate's signature and photo, valid and unexpired. Its accepted list is a state issued driver's license, a state issued identification card, a US Government issued passport, a US Government issued military identification card, a US Government issued alien registration card, or a Canadian government issued identification.
Check the expiry date this week, not on the morning. An expired license is the single most common way to be turned away, and PSI treats failing to present proper identification as a forfeited fee.
The two day cancellation rule
PSI's bulletin says you may cancel and reschedule an examination appointment without forfeiting your fee if your cancellation notice is received 2 days before the scheduled examination date.
The fee is forfeited if you do not cancel two days before, do not appear for your appointment, arrive after the examination start time, or do not present proper identification.
Two days is a short window. If a job is likely to run over, move the appointment early rather than hoping.
What the room gives you
A code book and a formula page, supplied by PSI. Since August 1, 2026 the book is the 2026 National Electrical Code, and the 2023 book can be provided on request until November 1, 2026.
You may not write, highlight, underline, and/or index on the references. You may not use any other materials.
So you bring identification and nothing else that matters. The book rules page is the one to read before you spend money on tabs.
The clock
Every Colorado paper is 90 scored items in 240 minutes, with 30 extra minutes for non-scored items on top. The residential wireman paper carries up to 7 of them and the other three carry up to 10. Seat time is four hours and thirty minutes either way.
Two minutes forty seconds a scored question. Plan a pass through the paper that answers everything you know cold first, then spends the remaining time on lookups, because a question you cannot find is worth the same as one you never read.
The pass mark is 63 correct out of 90.
Afterwards
You get a pass or a fail in writing and nothing more. Board rule 3 CCR 710-1.8.C says results will not be given in any other manner, and rule 1.8.D says examinations shall not be subject to review by candidates.
You cannot rebook on the same day you tested. PSI's worked example has a candidate who fails on a Wednesday calling on Thursday and retesting as soon as Friday, depending on space.
A retest is $73. The retakes page covers it.
The night before
Confirm the address, because two Colorado sites are inside airport facilities and one is on a college campus with its own assessment center. Those are not addresses you improvise at 7am.
Confirm your identification is unexpired and carries your signature and photo.
And do one timed run rather than one more chapter. The timed practice test is 30 questions with the working shown on every miss, which is a better use of the last evening than reading.

Thirty free questions, timed, with the working shown
Every miss comes back with the arithmetic worked out and the code section named, so you learn the trap and not just the answer. No account.
All questions here are original. They are not actual exam questions, and no question bank can promise you a pass.
